Easy Baked Eggs

Easy Baked Eggs are prepared by lining muffin cups with ham slices, cracking an egg inside each, topping with heavy cream and shredded cheddar, then baking until the eggs reach the desired doneness. The outcome is individual egg portions with savory ham, creamy yolks, and a bit of cheese, suitable for breakfast or brunch.

Description

This recipe begins by greasing a muffin pan and lining each well with a thin slice of deli ham. One egg is cracked into each, topped with a tablespoon of heavy cream and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese. Salt and pepper season the mixture before baking at 400°F.

Baking times vary to achieve soft, medium, or hard yolks, generally ranging from 13 to 18 minutes. A short broil can be used to finish the top if desired. The method allows the eggs to continue setting slightly after removal, so it is important not to overcook before taking them out.

These baked eggs work well as individualized servings for a quick breakfast or brunch, offering a combination of creamy yolk, salty ham, and melted cheese in each portion. They are easy to prepare ahead and portion per person.

Timing precisely impacts yolk texture, and cooling briefly before serving helps avoid overcooked eggs. Variations with mozzarella cheese also suit this preparation.
