Description

Easy Baked Spaghetti Pie starts by cooking spaghetti, then mixing it with beaten eggs and Parmesan cheese to form a crust pressed into a pie pan. Sautéed onions cooked with butter are layered over the crust, then topped with sour cream. Separately, ground beef (or a beef and Italian sausage mix) is browned with Italian seasonings and garlic powder, then simmered briefly with tomato sauce before layering over the sour cream and onions. The pie is finished with shredded mozzarella and an extra sprinkle of Parmesan on top, then baked until the cheese melts and browns slightly.

The dish showcases a firm but tender crust formed by noodles and eggs, with creamy sour cream and savory meat sauce nestled beneath cheese that forms a melty topping. It combines comfort elements of pasta, cheese, and hearty meat sauce in a convenient pie form.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz spaghetti
  • 2 egg
  • ¼ cup Parmesan Cheese plus 1 tablespoon
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ? cup onion chopped
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 lb ground beef or mix ½ ground beef and ½ pound of Italian sausage
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning oregano and basil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 8 oz tomato sauce can
  • 6 oz mozzarella cheese shredded

Instructions

  1. Bring 3-4 quarts of water to a boil, break spaghetti in half and cook as directed by the packaging, probably around 9-11 minutes. Strain when done.
  2. Beat two eggs
  3. Spray the bottom of your pie pan with non-stick spray.
  4. In the bottom of your pie pan, mix noodles, ¼ cup of parmesan cheese and beaten eggs, while the eggs are still warm and pliable.  Gently press down the noodles into the pan to make the “crust”. 
  5. Saute onions and butter together in a pan.
  6. Add the onions, and 1 cup of sour cream on top of the noodles.
  7. Brown the meat and drain off the excess oil.  Add the seasonings, and the tomato sauce to the meat and simmer for 3-4 minutes to cook together. 
  8. Add the sauce mixture on top of the onions and sour cream in the pie pan.
  9. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top of the pie.  Add the last tablespoon of parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350o until the cheese is melted and starting to brown. 
  11. Let rest for 10 minutes before cutting to serve.
