Easy BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders Recipe
Description
"Easy BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders Recipe" offers a step-by-step for layered sliders featuring shredded pork mixed with barbecue sauce, melted cheese, and crispy fried onions on Hawaiian sweet rolls. Making the accompanying coleslaw ahead allows flavors to meld, combining mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, honey, spices, shredded cabbage mix, and julienned apple for sweet crunchiness. The sliders bake in a butter, garlic, salt, and Worcestershire sauce mixture that soaks into the bun tops, enhancing flavor and helping crisp the bread slightly.
The pork's tenderness contrasts with the creamy coleslaw and crunchy French fried onions, providing a satisfying texture variety. Choosing a slightly thicker bottom bun prevents sogginess during baking. The recipe suggests customization options through different cheeses, barbecue sauces, and serving additions like jalapeños or pickles.
These sliders are suitable for casual meals or parties and can be assembled ahead or frozen for convenience. Refrigerated leftovers keep well for a day though the rolls soften over time. Reheating instructions help maintain the sliders' texture. The recipe also encourages experimenting with gluten-free or low-carb substitutes and alternative proteins.

Instructions
Make Easy Coleslaw (Refrigerate up to several hours)
- In a medium size bowl, whisk together the mayo, apple cider vinegar, honey, pepper and onion powder. Then add the coleslaw mix and apples, toss to combine. Cover and put in the fridge ideally for 2-3 hours before serving.
Make Shredded Pork Sliders
- Preheat the oven to 350° F (175° C)and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half lengthwise, cutting the bottoms slightly thicker than the tops, keeping the rolls together. Place bottom half in prepared pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the pulled pork and BBQ sauce and stir to combine.
- Layer the cheese over the bottom buns.
- Spoon the pork mixture over the cheese and gently spread out. Add the fried onions over the pork, and cover with the top buns.
- In a small bowl combine the melted butter, garlic, salt, and worcestershire. Stir well, then pour over the tops of the sandwiches, using a silicone brush to brush the sides and crevices with the sauce. Sprinkle the sesame seeds and poppy seeds all over the tops of the buns.
- Cover loosely with foil, and bake for 10-20 minutes; remove foil and continue baking until cheese is melted and tops are golden and have a slight crisp, another 5 minutes or so.
- Remove from the oven, carefully remove the top buns, and add a spoonful of coleslaw to each sandwich, then replace the top. Serve immediately.Or provide a bowl of coleslaw on the side for guests to add their own coleslaw.
Notes
- Assemble sliders without the buttery topping if making ahead; add butter before baking.
- Store assembled sliders refrigerated, then bring to room temperature before baking.
- Freeze assembled sliders for up to 3 months; bake from frozen by brushing with butter sauce and covering with foil.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven covered with foil to maintain moisture; uncover for last minutes to restore crispness.
- Choose your preferred BBQ sauce flavor for a sweeter, smoky, or spicier profile.
- Swap rolls for gluten-free or keto options and adjust coleslaw and BBQ sauce for dietary needs.
