Easy Beef Stew
Description
In this Easy Beef Stew recipe, beef chuck is first browned in a pan to develop flavor and then dusted with flour to slightly thicken the stew. The browned beef is combined in a slow cooker with pearl onions, carrots, peeled and chopped potatoes, beef broth, salt, and Italian seasoning. Cooking on low for 4 to 6 hours allows the meat to become tender and the vegetables to soften fully.
After the initial cooking period, fresh or frozen peas are stirred in and cooked for an additional 5 to 10 minutes to heat through without overcooking. The resulting stew has a savory, herb-infused broth with hearty chunks of beef and a variety of tender vegetables. The texture is balanced by the softened potatoes and vegetables alongside the melt-in-your-mouth beef.
This stew is ideal for a comforting dinner, offering a filling main course that pairs well with crusty bread or a simple side salad. The slow cooker method requires minimal active cooking time, empowering preparation in advance or unattended cooking.
