Easy Bisquick Dumplings Recipe
Description
Easy Bisquick Dumplings recipe combines sautéed mixed vegetables, chicken broth seasoned with bay leaves, salt, and pepper, and chicken meat, either rotisserie or boiled and shredded. After simmering to tenderize the vegetables, the dumpling dough made from Bisquick mix and milk is dropped by spoonfuls into the broth. Gentle simmering cooks the dumplings through while maintaining a soft and fluffy consistency. The cooking method avoids stirring the dumplings to prevent breaking them apart.
The flavor combines the savory broth with tender vegetables and chicken for a comforting soup. The dumplings cook to a light texture on top of the soup base, making the dish substantial and satisfying. This recipe can be prepared on the stovetop or adapted for a slow cooker, which allows for convenience and hands-off cooking.
For a thicker and heartier consistency, cornstarch mixed with water can be added to the boiling broth to thicken it. Removal of vegetables before adding the dumpling dough helps avoid breaking apart the dumplings during cooking. The slow cooker method involves cooking the base ingredients first and adding dumplings and chicken toward the end to maintain texture. This flexibility makes it practical for different schedules and kitchen setups.
