Easy Black Bean Chili Recipe

This Black Bean Chili combines diced bacon, ground beef, onions, and garlic with crushed tomatoes and black beans simmered in a blend of cumin, chili powder, and oregano. The sausage-like seasoning mix and tomato base create a hearty, savory chili rich in texture and flavor. It is easy to prepare and can be topped with sour cream and cheddar cheese for added creaminess.

Description

The Easy Black Bean Chili starts by crisping diced bacon in a heavy-bottomed pot, which adds smoky depth to the dish. Onions and garlic soften in the rendered bacon fat before ground beef is browned until fully cooked. The meat is then seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, cumin, chili powder, and oregano to impart classic chili spices. Crushed tomatoes and rinsed black beans are added, and everything simmers together for about 20 minutes allowing the flavors to meld and thicken slightly. The result is a thick, hearty chili with tender beans and a balanced spice profile.

It’s served hot with optional sour cream and grated cheddar cheese that add richness and cut through the spice. The recipe is straightforward and adaptable, suitable for a comforting weeknight meal.

The bacon can be omitted or substituted with olive oil for a leaner version as indicated in the notes, allowing flexibility based on dietary preferences.
