Easy Boiled Corn on the Cob
Description
Easy Boiled Corn on the Cob involves boiling fresh corn after removing husks and silk, typically for 4-5 minutes. After boiling, the corn is left to sit covered in the hot water for an additional 5 to 30 minutes, which allows the kernels to remain juicy without overcooking. Tossing the corn with butter, salt, and pepper while still warm helps the seasonings absorb well. Breaking the cobs in half prior to cooking can accommodate smaller pots or appetites.
The texture attained is tender yet crisp, with the natural sweetness of corn highlighted by gentle seasoning. This method ensures even cooking without the risk of drying out the kernels.
This recipe pairs well with a variety of summer mains and can be served as a convenient side. The instructions include an option to prepare the corn ahead by boiling briefly then letting it rest in hot water for up to 45 minutes, which helps maintain juiciness and convenience.
For preparation ease, removing husks and silk is necessary, and cutting the cobs in half is practical for smaller pots. The resting phase after boiling is important to maintain moisture and avoid overcooking.
