Easy Broiled Miso Halibut

Easy Broiled Miso Halibut features halibut fillets coated with a marinade of red miso, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and ginger, then broiled to a tender, flaky finish. Topped with marinated shiitake mushrooms and fresh green onions, this dish delivers a savory umami flavor with a balance of tangy and aromatic notes. The broiling method cooks the fish quickly while preserving moisture.

Description

This recipe uses halibut filets marinated in a blend of red miso paste, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and fresh minced ginger, allowing the flavors to penetrate for at least an hour. Broiling applies high direct heat from above, cooking the fish until just flaky and moist, with a subtle caramelized surface from the miso glaze. The addition of soy-marinated shiitake mushrooms and sliced green onions adds earthiness and freshness to complement the rich fish.

The finished dish pairs well with steamed rice or crisp vegetables, making it a balanced meal featuring a mix of textures and complementary tastes. The marinating step is important for infusing the mild halibut with deep umami and slight acidity. Broiling on low heat helps prevent overcooking while developing color.
