Easy Brown Sugar Glazed Pork Chops
Description
This recipe uses pork chops about 1 inch thick, either bone-in or boneless. The pork is rubbed with a spice mixture combining packed brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. The chops are arranged on a foil-lined baking pan coated with cooking spray to prevent sticking. They bake at a high temperature of 400°F for 30 to 35 minutes, turning once after 15 minutes to allow both sides to develop an even glaze. The baking process slowly melts the sugar, forming a caramelized exterior while keeping the meat tender inside.
The final pork chops have a glossy, brown sugar crust with a sweet and smoky flavor from paprika and garlic. This dish pairs well with sides that balance its richness, like roasted vegetables or simple grains. The glaze adds a slightly crisp texture contrasting the juicy meat.
Using chops of adequate thickness helps them stay juicy during baking, and drying the meat before seasoning improves flavor absorption. For an even crisper glaze, broiling the chops briefly at the end while watching for burning is recommended. Leftovers reheat well, making this a good recipe for meal planning.
