Easy Brown Sugar Glazed Pork Chops

Easy Brown Sugar Glazed Pork Chops feature pork chops coated in a blend of brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, then baked until caramelized. The brown sugar creates a sweet, slightly crispy glaze that contrasts the savory seasoning, while baking at 400°F cooks the chops through and develops deep color. This method yields flavorful, juicy pork chops with a balanced sweet-savory crust.

Description

This recipe uses pork chops about 1 inch thick, either bone-in or boneless. The pork is rubbed with a spice mixture combining packed brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. The chops are arranged on a foil-lined baking pan coated with cooking spray to prevent sticking. They bake at a high temperature of 400°F for 30 to 35 minutes, turning once after 15 minutes to allow both sides to develop an even glaze. The baking process slowly melts the sugar, forming a caramelized exterior while keeping the meat tender inside.

The final pork chops have a glossy, brown sugar crust with a sweet and smoky flavor from paprika and garlic. This dish pairs well with sides that balance its richness, like roasted vegetables or simple grains. The glaze adds a slightly crisp texture contrasting the juicy meat.

Using chops of adequate thickness helps them stay juicy during baking, and drying the meat before seasoning improves flavor absorption. For an even crisper glaze, broiling the chops briefly at the end while watching for burning is recommended. Leftovers reheat well, making this a good recipe for meal planning.

Notes

  • Choose pork chops at least 1 inch thick to retain moisture when baked.
  • Drying chops before seasoning improves spice adherence and flavor absorption.
  • Be generous with the brown sugar mixture to form a balanced and flavorful glaze.
  • Flip chops halfway through baking to evenly caramelize both sides.
  • Let chops rest slightly after baking to allow juices and glaze to settle for better flavor and texture.
  • For a crispier glaze, broil for 2-3 minutes at the end while closely monitoring to prevent burning.
  • Leftovers store well, making this recipe suitable for meal prep.
