Easy Cheeseburger Sliders on Hawaiian Rolls (30 Min Meal!)

These Easy Cheeseburger Sliders use ground beef cooked with onions and ketchup, layered on sliced Hawaiian rolls with cheddar cheese. The assembled sliders are brushed with a seasoned butter mixture and baked until golden with melted cheese. The result is a soft, cheesy, and tangy mini burger perfect for quick meals or gatherings.

Description

The recipe starts by browning ground beef and diced onions in a skillet, then seasoning the mixture with ketchup, kosher salt, and black pepper. The Hawaiian rolls are sliced in half horizontally but kept attached. The bottom halves are placed on a baking sheet or dish and layered with cheddar cheese, the ground beef mixture, and more cheese, then topped with the roll tops.

A mixture of melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and everything bagel seasoning is brushed on the outside of the assembled sliders, which are covered with foil and baked at 350°F for 10 minutes. Then the foil is removed and they bake for another 7-10 minutes to melt the cheese and brown the tops, resulting in soft, juicy sliders with flavorful seasonings.

These sliders can be doubled and are versatile in cheese and meat type. They can be served as a quick meal or appetizer and pair well with casual sides like fries or salad.

To prevent soggy rolls, the cheese can be layered beneath the cooled meat before assembling and baking. Leftovers store well refrigerated for up to three days and reheat in the oven wrapped in foil. The sliders also freeze well for months with appropriate wrapping, and can be reheated from frozen in the oven or microwave.

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package hawaiian rolls (package of 12) or use other slider rolls, brioche rolls, keto or gluten-free

  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or may use yellow mustard if preferred
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning

  2. Break up and brown the ground beef and onions in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease. Stir in the ketchup, salt and pepper, and set the meat to the side.

  4. Place the roll's bottom half onto the sheet pan or baking dish and top them with slices of cheese, next, add the ground beef mixture and finish with a layer of cheese then replace the top of the rolls on.
  5. Mix the melted butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and Everything bagel seasoning in a small mixing bowl. Brush the mixture on the top and sides of the rolls.
  6. Cover with foil and place the sliders in the oven, baking for 10 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 7-10 minutes until cheese is melted and sliders are golden. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • The recipe can be doubled easily using the slider quantity adjustment for larger groups.
  • For softer, juicier sliders, bake in a baking dish; use a sheet pan if a drier texture is preferred.
  • Layer cheese on the bottom and add cooled meat on top to prevent soggy rolls when making ahead; refrigerate assembled and bake with extra time.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to three days; reheat wrapped in foil in a 350°F oven for 5-10 minutes.
  • Freeze fully cooled baked sliders wrapped tightly for 3-6 months; thaw overnight and reheat covered with foil, baking 5-20 minutes as needed.
  • Microwave reheating is possible but may affect texture; wrapping in paper towel and heating in short increments is advised.
  • Gluten-free and keto adaptations are possible by swapping rolls and adjusting ingredients accordingly.
