Easy Creamy Garlic Chicken Breast Recipe
Description
The chicken breasts are patted dry and seasoned before searing in olive oil until golden brown on both sides. Using the same pan, butter melts to sauté peeled shallots and fresh rosemary, which infuse the base with fragrant notes. Minced garlic is then gently cooked until aromatic, avoiding overcooking to prevent bitterness. Chicken broth is added, scraping up browned bits to enhance flavor, then heavy cream is stirred in to form a creamy sauce.
The sauce is simmered with the chicken returned to the pan, allowing the meat to finish cooking and absorb the flavors. Fresh parsley and lemon juice brighten the sauce, balancing richness. The texture is silky and smooth, with tender chicken breasts enveloped in a luscious garlic cream sauce.
Controlling heat while sautéing the garlic and simmering the cream sauce is crucial for preserving delicate flavors and preventing curdling. This dish pairs well with rice or vegetables, making for an approachable but flavorful meal.
Ingredients
- 2 chicken breast boneless and skinless
- ⅓ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper ground
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- shallots peeled, handful
- ½ rosemary sprig, fresh
- 5-6 garlic minced, cloves
- ½ cup heavy cream
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon parsley minced, fresh
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
Instructions
- Prep the ingredients: Peel the shallots, peel and mince the garlic, and mince the parsley.
- Season the chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels, removing any extra moisture. Season them with ⅓ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon black pepper on both sides.
- Sear the chicken: Heat 2 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and sear until golden brown on both sides about 4-5 minutes each side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
- Saute the shallots and rosemary: In the same pan, add 2 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add the peeled shallots and rosemary sprig. Sauté for a minute or until fragrant.
- Add garlic: Add the minced garlic and cook, stirring constantly, until aromatic.
- Make the sauce: Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any flavorful bits. Stir in the heavy cream, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer the chicken in the sauce: Add the chicken back to the skillet, gently nestling the breasts into the sauce. Allow the chicken to simmer in the sauce for a couple of minutes, letting the flavors meld together.
- Finish the dish: Stir in the minced parsley and lemon juice, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Serve: Slice the chicken if desired, and serve with the creamy garlic sauce poured over the top. Enjoy!
Notes
- Monitor garlic closely during sautéing to prevent burning and bitterness.
- Cook the cream sauce over low heat to avoid splitting and maintain smooth texture.
