Easy Crock pot Beef and Broccoli Recipe
Description
The recipe starts by placing bite-sized pieces of round steak in a slow cooker with a mixture of beef broth, low-sodium soy sauce, minced garlic, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Cooking on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3 hours breaks down the meat to a tender consistency.
Once the beef is tender, a slurry of cornstarch and cold water is stirred into the crock pot to thicken the sauce. Broccoli florets are then added and cooked on low for about 30 minutes to become crisp-tender without losing color or firmness. The finished dish is sprinkled with optional sesame seeds and typically served immediately over rice, combining savory, sweet, and nutty flavors with fresh vegetables and soft beef.
This crock pot method allows hands-off slow cooking, making the beef tender while developing rich flavor in the sauce. The timing ensures broccoli stays fresh and textured rather than mushy.
Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container and kept for up to five days, maintaining quality for later meals.
