Easy Crock Pot Hot Chocolate
Description
Easy Crock Pot Hot Chocolate combines milk, evaporated milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, semisweet chocolate chips, brown sugar, and vanilla for a comforting warm beverage. By heating the mixture slowly on low heat and stirring periodically, the cocoa powder fully dissolves, avoiding lumps, and the chocolate chips melt evenly creating a rich chocolate base. Adding cornstarch near the end provides a slightly thicker consistency without clumping.
The slow cooker method frees you from constant stirring or watching the pot, making it convenient for gatherings or relaxing days. The richness of the semisweet chocolate pairs well with the sweetness balanced by cocoa powder and brown sugar, establishing a deep chocolate flavor without being overly sweet.
Served hot, this hot chocolate is suitable for topping with marshmallows, whipped cream, or chocolate shavings according to preference. Adjusting the sugar allows customization of sweetness.
Using a 5 quart slow cooker is recommended for even heat distribution. Avoid heating on high to prevent scorching. Stirring every 20 minutes helps prevent sticking. The recipe yields enough hot chocolate for several servings and can be kept warm in the crock pot until ready to serve.
