Description
The stromboli's dough is stretched into a large rectangle and brushed with honey mustard dressing, which provides a sweet and tangy base flavor throughout. Thin slices of smoky Black Forest ham and shredded Monterey Jack cheese form a rich filling that melts together during baking. The dough is rolled lengthwise with the filling enclosed, edges folded, then sprinkled with garlic powder and Parmesan cheese for extra flavor and a crisp, golden crust.
Slits cut in the top allow steam to escape, preventing sogginess and helping the crust bake evenly. Baking at a high temperature yields a golden exterior and melted, gooey cheese inside. The stromboli is served sliced with extra honey mustard for dipping, enhancing the combination of sweet and savory tastes.
Ingredients
- 1 pizza dough I used thin crust, refrigerated, store bought, roll
- 1/4 cup honey mustard dressing prepared
- 6-7 oz. Black Forest ham thinly sliced, Boar's Head Smoke Master brand
- 1 1/2 cups Monterey jack cheese shredded
- garlic powder
- 2 Tablespoons Parmesan Cheese
- parsley optional, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray or oil.
- Unroll pizza dough onto cookie sheet, spreading towards the edges and stretching into a large rectangle.
- Sprinkle garlic powder over the surface of the dough then spread honey mustard in a thin, even layer.
- Top with ham and cheese, then roll dough lengthwise folding in sides as you go. Sprinkle top with garlic powder and parmesan cheese, then cut slits into the top of the dough to allow heat to escape.
- Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown and cheese is melted. Serve with honey mustard for dipping. Enjoy!
