Easy Hot Cocoa for a Crowd
Description
Easy Hot Cocoa for a Crowd mixes powdered milk and cocoa powder with sweetened condensed milk and water, then blends the ingredients for a smooth base. Heating the mixture slowly while stirring prevents scorching and allows the flavors to combine evenly. The addition of coarsely chopped bittersweet chocolate enriches the cocoa with a deeper chocolate taste and a velvety texture as it melts in. Pure vanilla extract enhances the aroma without overpowering the chocolate notes.
The recipe scales well for groups, ideal for parties or family gatherings. Once prepared, the cocoa can be garnished with marshmallows or whipped cream for added indulgence. The drink’s thickness and chocolate concentration can be customized as needed by adjusting the cocoa or sweetener amounts.
For convenience, this hot cocoa can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to three days or even frozen for longer storage. When reheating, gentle heat and stirring prevent curdling or skin formation, and whisking restores smoothness if a skin forms after cooling. These details help maintain the quality and flavor throughout storage and reheating.
Ingredients
- 200 g powdered milk Nido brand
- 50 g cocoa powder 100%
- 1 sweetened condensed milk
- 1½ liter water
- 200 g bittersweet chocolate coarsely chopped
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract optional, pure
- sugar , to taste
Instructions
- In a blender, blend ½ liter of water, condensed milk, and cocoa until smooth. Add remaining water to a large saucepan and place over medium-low heat. Whisk the Condensed milk mixture and powdered milk into the water until the powdered milk dissolves completely.

- Taste and adjust sweetness, if needed. Pour into mugs and garnish with marshmallows or whipped cream, if desired. Enjoy !
Notes

- Whisk or stir well if a skin forms on top after cooling to restore smooth texture.
- This recipe can be made ahead for gatherings and also frozen for up to one month.
