Easy Jambalaya
Description
This jambalaya starts by browning sliced andouille sausage in vegetable oil to develop a crisp, smoky flavor. The sausage is removed, and a mix of chopped onion, red bell pepper, and thin celery slices are sautéed to a soft, fragrant base. Adding diced chicken breast, canned diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and a seasoning blend including thyme, oregano, Cajun seasoning, and cayenne creates a richly spiced stew.
Cooking the mixture covered for 15 to 20 minutes allows the chicken to become tender and the flavors to marry. Shrimp and cooked sausage are added back, cooking uncovered for a few minutes until shrimp are ready. The result is a hearty, spicy dish with a thick, savory sauce that coats each protein.
This jambalaya can be served as a main course and pairs well with simple sides or alone as a flavorful meal. It highlights classic Cajun components with a blend of meat and seafood for balance.
The recipe structure supports adjusting serving size and ingredient measures to suit different needs. The use of canned tomatoes and accessible seasonings simplifies preparation while maintaining authentic flavors.
