Easy Lemon Dill Sauce Recipe
Description
The Easy Lemon Dill Sauce Recipe is a creamy blend of mayonnaise and Greek yogurt, enhanced with fresh lemon juice and a mix of both dried and fresh dill. Garlic and onion powders blend in for gentle seasoning without overpowering the delicate herbal flavor. The combination creates a smooth, tangy sauce that balances freshness and richness, making it a flexible accompaniment.
This sauce can be used as a dip or thinned out with milk or cream to serve as a dressing, offering options depending on your preference. Its fresh dill component complements Mediterranean and seafood dishes notably well, but it also pairs nicely with chicken or roasted vegetables.
Keep the sauce refrigerated until use and consume within 4-5 days. By adjusting the dill type—fresh for a milder taste or dried for stronger flavor—you can tailor the sauce. It’s an adaptable preparation that can be modified by omitting mayonnaise for a yogurt-only version or enhancing with lemon zest or Dijon mustard for extra zing.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup mayonnaise quality mayo (I like Chosen Foods Avocado Mayo)
- ¾ cup Greek yogurt plain whole milk
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice fresh squeezed
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dill dried
- ¼ cup dill chopped, fresh
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the mayo (¾ cup), yogurt (¾ cup), lemon juice (1 TBL), garlic powder (½ tsp), onion powder (¼ tsp), dried dill (1 tsp) and fresh dill (¼ cup) together and stir until smooth and incorporated.
- Refrigerate until needed.
Notes
- The sauce keeps well refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- Use fresh dill for a milder herbal flavor, or dried dill for a stronger taste.
- For a thinner dressing consistency, thin with milk or half and half; keep it thicker if using as a dip.
- Substitute Dijon mustard or lemon zest to vary the flavor.
- Plant-based mayo and Greek yogurt make a dairy-free version.
