Easy Marinated Mushrooms (15 Minutes)
Description
Easy Marinated Mushrooms begin by boiling whole mushrooms in a mixture of water, white vinegar, and salt for 15 minutes. This softens the mushrooms and infuses them with initial tanginess. After draining and cooling, the mushrooms are placed in jars layered with minced garlic and fresh dill.
The marinade is prepared by boiling water with sugar, salt, bay leaves, and peppercorns until dissolved, then adding white vinegar, diced onion, and red bell pepper. This warm marinade is poured over the mushrooms in the jars until fully submerged, then sealed and refrigerated overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and intensify, resulting in mushrooms with firm, pickled texture balanced by aromatics and spices.
These marinated mushrooms are served cold and make a flavorful appetizer or side dish that pairs well with casual meals. The combination of vinegar, herbs, and aromatic vegetables gives a vibrant taste and slight crunch from the diced peppers and onions. They keep well refrigerated, developing deeper flavor over time.
