Easy Meat Sauce

This Easy Meat Sauce combines ground beef with tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers, slowly simmered to a thick, hearty consistency. The Italian seasoning and bay leaves add depth, while a splash of red wine or beef broth enriches the flavor. It’s a filling sauce suitable for pairing with pasta or using as a base for other dishes, made with accessible ingredients and a longer simmer to develop rich taste.

Description

Easy Meat Sauce features lean ground beef cooked with diced onions and garlic, then combined with diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Green bell pepper and fresh parsley contribute texture and freshness. The mixture simmers gently, first covered to meld the flavors and then uncovered to thicken the sauce, while bay leaves and Italian seasoning provide subtle herbal notes. Red wine or beef broth adds some acidity and depth. The long simmer softens the vegetables and melds the components into a unified sauce.

The sauce yields a robust, slightly chunky texture that clings well to pasta. It can be served over noodles or used in casseroles, offering a versatile, homey addition to meals. The careful simmer avoids drying out the meat, preserving tenderness within a richly flavored tomato base.

To store, make a large batch and freeze leftovers for quick reheating on busy evenings, ensuring a convenient foundational sauce ready for various meals.
