Easy Oven Baked Rice
Description
Easy Oven Baked Rice uses long grain white rice combined with boiling water, butter, and salt in a baking dish. The dish is tightly covered and baked at 375°F for about 22 to 27 minutes until the water is absorbed and rice is tender. After resting, the rice is fluffed with a fork, resulting in light, separated grains without stovetop attention.
This method allows doubling the recipe in a larger pan if needed. When substituting jasmine rice, reducing water to about 1½ cups improves texture given different water absorption qualities.
Oven baking rice can be convenient when coordinating with other oven dishes and avoids a need for constant monitoring common in stove-top methods.
Ingredients
- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 1 ¾ cups water boiling
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Pour all ingredients into a 2 qt baking dish and stir. Cover tightly.
- Bake until the water is absorbed, 22 - 27 minutes.
- Rest 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
Notes
- The recipe can be doubled using a 9x13 inch pan for larger quantities.
- When using jasmine rice, reduce water to 1½ cups to adjust for its absorption.
