Easy Pizza Dip
Description
Easy Pizza Dip combines cream cheese as a creamy base with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses layered to create a rich, cheesy foundation. A layer of pizza sauce is added atop the cheese, followed by more mozzarella and Parmesan, then pepperoni slices are spread over the top. This dish is baked until the cheese melts and melds with the tomato sauce, creating a warm, savory dip reminiscent of a pizza's flavors.
The baking process melds the cheeses and sauce into a cohesive dip with a gooey texture, while the pepperoni adds a slightly spicy, meaty contrast on top. The softened cream cheese base ensures the dip stays creamy and dense but scoopable.
Serving suggestions include toasted French bread, baguettes, breadsticks, pita chips, or crackers, which provide a crunchy contrast to the creamy dip. The dip is best enjoyed warm, shortly after baking, but leftovers keep airtight in the refrigerator for several days and can be reheated gently.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese very well-softened (lite is okay, brick-style
- 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese divided (3/4 cup + 3/4 cup, grated
- 1 cup Parmesan Cheese divided (1/2 cup + 1/2 cup, finely grated
- 1 pizza sauce or your favorite marinara or red sauce, heaping cup
- pepperoni or as needed to cover surface of pie dish, about 15 slices
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F. Spray a 9-inch pie dish (I used a glass Pyrex) with cooking spray.
- Using a spatula or butter knife, evenly spread the cream cheese over the base of pie dish. It’ll slide around a bit and it doesn’t have to be perfect, but it’s so much easier if your cream cheese is very well-softened.
- Evenly sprinkle 3/4 cup mozzarella over cream cheese.
- Evenly sprinkle 1/2 cup parmesan.
- Evenly add the pizza sauce to cover cheese and if necessary, gently spread it with a spatula or knife to evenly disperse.
- Evenly sprinkle 3/4 cup mozzarella over sauce.
- Evenly sprinkle 1/2 cup parmesan.
- Evenly top with pepperoni slices.
- Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes (I baked 23 minutes), or until cheese has melted and dip is done to your liking. Allow dip to cool momentarily before serving.
Notes
- Use softened cream cheese to spread evenly as the dip base for smooth texture.
- Serve the dip warm with sturdy dippers like toasted French bread, pita chips, or crackers for textural contrast.
- Store leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to five days; reheat gently in the microwave before serving.
- Check product labels if gluten-free ingredients are needed for your dippers or sauces.
