Easy Pizza Sauce
Description
Easy Pizza Sauce combines olive oil, crushed garlic, and diced shallots lightly cooked to release their flavors before adding both chopped tomatoes and tomato puree. The sauce simmers briefly with oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper to meld the ingredients. Fresh basil added at the end provides a bright note. The result is a moderately thick, well-seasoned sauce that adds a fresh and gentle herbaceous flavor to pizzas or pasta dishes. It’s designed to be straightforward and versatile, practical for home cooks seeking a homemade pizza base without complex preparation.
The cooking method keeps the sauce flavorful without overpowering acidity or heaviness, fitting well as a base for various toppings. It’s gently reduced to maintain body and is not overly oily or thin, making it adaptable to different crust types or pasta styles.
This sauce can be dressed up further with a splash of quality olive oil or combined with BBQ sauce for an alternative flavor. Leftovers keep well and can be used to quickly dress cooked pasta, offering flexibility beyond pizza applications. Its simplicity and balance make it a useful staple in home cooking where tomato-based sauces are needed.
