Easy Poutine Recipe With Gravy Fries

This poutine recipe features crispy oven-baked frozen fries topped with fresh cheese curds slightly melted under heat, then generously covered with a rich, smooth gravy made from butter, flour, onions, garlic, and vegetable broth. The gravy incorporates cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce, adding a subtle tang and depth to complement the fries and cheese. The layers of textures include crunchy fries, gooey cheese curds, and velvety gravy, making it a fulfilling comforting dish to serve as a side or snack.

Description

Easy Poutine Recipe With Gravy Fries starts with quality frozen fries baked according to package instructions to achieve a crisp exterior. Fresh cheese curds are sprinkled over the hot fries and briefly returned to the oven just to soften and slightly melt the cheese without fully liquefying it. The gravy is prepared separately by sautéing finely diced onions and minced garlic in butter until softened, then simmering with vegetable broth and seasoning including cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce for subtle acidity and umami. A flour and broth mixture is whisked in to thicken the sauce until smooth and glossy. Once assembled, the combination of the crisp fries, squeaky cheese curds, and flavorful gravy creates a satisfying textural and flavor contrast.

This dish is often served as a casual comfort food or snack and can be enjoyed warm immediately after preparation while the cheese is still melty. Adjusting salt and pepper allows for seasoning balance. The use of frozen fries and bottled broth helps streamline the preparation time without sacrificing the essence of this classic Canadian dish.
