Easy Rice Pilaf

Easy Rice Pilaf features long grain white rice cooked with sautéed onion, celery, and garlic in olive oil, then simmered in chicken stock with spices including salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne. The final dish is fluffy and lightly seasoned, topped with fresh parsley for a simple, versatile side.

Description

This pilaf recipe starts by sauteing onion, celery, and garlic in olive oil until the vegetables are softened and lightly browned, imparting depth and sweetness. Spices including salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and a hint of cayenne pepper are stirred in before adding the rice. Heating the rice briefly in the aromatic mixture enhances its flavor.

Chicken stock is then poured in, and the rice is brought to a boil before simmering gently with the lid on. This cooking method allows the rice to absorb flavorful liquids fully, resulting in separate, fluffy grains. After cooking, the pot is left covered off heat to steam briefly, ensuring tender texture without stickiness.

Chopped fresh parsley sprinkled on top adds aroma and freshness. This straightforward pilaf works well as a base for meat or vegetable dishes and can be customized by adjusting spices or adding other herbs as desired. The use of both fresh garlic and garlic powder layers gentle garlic flavor throughout.
