Easy Seaweed Salad (Wakame)

This Easy Seaweed Salad highlights rehydrated dried wakame combined with shallots, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and a touch of yuzu or lemon juice. The seaweed absorbs the flavors while softening into a tender texture with a slight chew. It can be served fresh or chilled, offering a refreshing and light vegetable side or appetizer with umami notes from soy and the bright acidity from yuzu.

Description

Easy Seaweed Salad (Wakame) uses dried wakame seaweed soaked in water to rehydrate and expand, creating a slightly chewy texture that holds the salad's flavor well. Mix-ins such as minced shallot, ginger, and green onions provide mild pungency and freshness. The dressing of soy sauce and toasted sesame oil gives the salad an umami-rich, nutty depth, while yuzu or lemon juice adds a gentle citrus tang.

The salad can be enjoyed immediately after mixing or chilled for a few hours to deepen the flavor meld. It works well as a light appetizer, a side dish accompanying seafood or rice dishes, or a refreshing component in a Japanese-inspired meal.
