Easy Shrimp Dip
Description
The recipe begins with gently cooking diced onions in butter until tender to avoid bitterness. These onions are combined with softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice, hot sauce, dill, Old Bay seasoning, and garlic powder, all beaten until fluffy to create a smooth, savory base. Folded in chopped cooked shrimp and part of the shredded cheddar cheese add seafood flavor and creamy richness. The mixture is then baked at 350°F until hot and bubbly, topped with remaining cheese, and optionally broiled briefly for a golden finish.
Texture is creamy and dense with occasional tender shrimp pieces, while the seasoning blend balances warmth, citrus, and herb notes. The melted cheddar cheese on top contributes to a flavorful crust contrasting the soft interior.
This shrimp dip is suited as a warm appetizer or party snack, paired well with crudités, crackers, or toasted bread. It delivers a blend of seafood, tangy, and mildly spicy flavors.
When starting with raw shrimp, seasoning and cooking them in butter prior to chopping will enhance the dip’s taste. Removing tails ensures easier eating. Using cooked shrimp ready to eat shortens preparation time.
