Easy Sirloin Skillet with Vegetables Recipe

This easy sirloin skillet features thinly sliced top sirloin quickly browned in olive oil alongside sautéed onions, zucchini, and cremini mushrooms. The stir-fry method yields tender, browned beef and softened vegetables seasoned with Montreal steak seasoning and freshly cracked black pepper. The dish works as a hearty main served on its own or over rice or bread substrates.

Description

The Easy Sirloin Skillet with Vegetables Recipe involves heating a skillet until hot, then browning thinly sliced top sirloin in olive oil without crowding the pan. The beef quickly sears on both sides for 1-2 minutes each, creating a flavorful crust while retaining tenderness inside. After removing or clearing space, sliced white onion is added to soften over several minutes.

Sliced zucchini and cremini mushrooms join the skillet with cracked black pepper and Montreal steak seasoning. The vegetables cook until lightly browned and tender, integrating their earthiness and freshness with the beef. The seasoning blend emphasizes savory, slightly smoky notes that enhance the simple ingredients.

This skillet meal can be served immediately, either tucked into sandwiches, spooned over grains such as rice or cauliflower rice, or plated with the cooked vegetables alongside.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ lb top sirloin thinly sliced
  • 1 white onion skin removed, halved, and sliced into thin strips
  • 1 zucchini sliced into thin half rounds
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms cleaned and sliced thin
  • 2 tsp black pepper freshly cracked
  • 1 tbsp Montreal steak seasoning

Instructions

  1. Heat large pan or skillet on high until hot to the touch.
  2. Add olive oil to pan and swirl until thin and shimmery, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add sliced sirloin to pan, making sure to not stack on top of itself or in big clumps - don't crowd together.
  4. Let sliced sirloin brown, then stir to flip and brown on other side - about 1-2 minutes per side.
  5. Add onions to pan, let cook until softened, another 3 minutes.
  6. Add zucchini, mushrooms, and seasonings and continue to cook until vegetables are softened and lightly browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. When vegetables are lightly browned, remove from heat and serve immediately in a sandwich, over rice or cauliflower rice, with vegetables, or on a plate and enjoy!
