Easy Smoked Chicken Wings

Easy Smoked Chicken Wings are seasoned wings cooked low and slow in a smoker to develop smoky flavor and tender meat. The process involves coating the wings with oil and rub, smoking at low temperature until done, then resting wrapped in foil to finish cooking evenly and preserve juiciness.

Description

This recipe guides you through smoking chicken wings using your preferred dry rub and olive oil to create a flavorful outer crust with moist, tender meat inside. The wings are smoked at 250°F until the internal temperature reaches about 160°F, then wrapped in foil to rest until 165°F, ensuring thorough cooking and juicy results. The use of a pellet smoker or similar equipment is outlined, noting the steps to maintain temperature and handle the wings properly while smoking.

The wings can be served as-is without additional sauces for a direct smoky taste. Ensuring similar wing sizes promotes even cooking. The technique is flexible for different meal pairings, including salads, rice bowls, or as appetizers.

Tips include choosing a sea salt flake for brining when applicable, monitoring temperature for doneness, and serving suggestions to suit varied preferences.

  2. Place seasoned chicken wings on the Pit Boss pellet grill grates, leaving a bit of space between each chicken wing.
  3. Close the lid and smoke until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F / 70 degrees C. This may take up to 2 hours or a little longer.
  4. Turn up the Pit Boss heat to 450 degrees F / 230 degrees C.

Notes

  • Use sea salt flakes if brining to avoid oversalting; table salt is not recommended.
  • Ensure chicken wings are similar in size for even cooking throughout.
  • Serve wings as they are or with additional sauces based on preference.
  • Monitoring internal temperature with a thermometer is key for perfect doneness.
