Easy-to-peel Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs

This method produces hard boiled eggs that are easy to peel by cooking them in an Instant Pot with a natural pressure release. Eggs are cooked on high pressure for 5 minutes, followed by a 5-minute natural release and an ice bath to set the peel, resulting in smooth, intact eggshell removal. The recipe also includes timing variations for softer or medium boiled eggs.

Description

Easy-to-peel Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs uses pressure cooking to ensure consistent cooking and simpler peeling. The eggs, preferably a week old, are placed on a trivet inside the Instant Pot over one cup of water. Cooking on high pressure for 5 minutes followed by a 5-minute natural release and immediate ice bath cools and contracts the egg inside the shell for easy peeling.

The texture of the eggs is firm, with fully cooked yolks and whites due to the controlled high pressure cooking and gradual pressure release. The shell remains more intact and peels off cleanly without tearing.

This recipe is convenient for preparing a dozen eggs at once, suitable for snacking, salads, or recipes requiring hard boiled eggs. The ice bath quickly stops cooking and firms the eggs further.

Notes offer timing adjustments for other doneness levels: 3 minutes for soft set whites and runny yolks with quick release; 4-5 minutes for medium firmness. Planning time should consider the pressure build-up phase of about 10-15 minutes before cooking starts.
