Easy Tri-Tip Roast

This Easy Tri-Tip Roast features a savory dry rub made from garlic salt, black pepper, brown sugar, garlic, onion powder, and cayenne, combined with vegetable oil to marinate the beef. The roast is first seared on the stove to develop a browned crust, then oven-roasted to desired doneness. The resting period after roasting allows juices to redistribute, resulting in tender, flavorful slices when cut against the grain.

Description

The Easy Tri-Tip Roast relies on a balanced seasoning blend combining garlic salt, coarse black pepper, brown sugar, dried minced garlic, onion powder, and a touch of cayenne pepper for mild heat. The vegetable oil aids in coating the roast evenly. After marinating for at least two hours or overnight, the tri-tip is brought to room temperature, seared on high heat for a flavorful crust, then roasted at 400°F for about 10 minutes per pound. Resting the meat tented with foil for 10 minutes allows the juices to settle. Slicing against the grain ensures more tender bites suitable for serving as a main dish or in sandwiches.
