Easy Tuna Noodle Casserole

Easy Tuna Noodle Casserole combines tender egg noodles with tuna, peas, celery, cherry tomatoes, and a creamy celery soup base, topped with crispy crumbled potato chips. This bake is hearty and creamy, making it a practical choice for a comforting family meal. The mix of vegetables adds freshness and texture, while the crunchy topping gives a nice contrast to the casserole's softness.

Description

Easy Tuna Noodle Casserole brings together cooked egg noodles mixed with drained tuna, chopped celery, peas, and halved cherry tomatoes. The creamy element comes from a can of cream of celery soup combined with milk, creating a smooth and flavorful sauce to bind the ingredients. The casserole is seasoned lightly with black pepper for a gentle spice.

Once everything is mixed, the casserole is topped with crumbled potato chips, which crisp up in the oven, providing a salty crunchy topping. Baking at 400℉ for 30 minutes ensures the dish is warmed through and the topping gets golden and crisp.

This casserole serves well as a straightforward main dish that pairs easily with salads or steamed vegetables. The inclusion of various veggies adds color and nutritional variety without overpowering the flavors.

A homemade cream of celery soup version is provided in the notes, made with butter, celery, onion, flour, chicken broth, and cream. Using this fresh soup base can enhance the casserole's homemade taste and texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 ounce egg noodles dry
  • 15 ounce tuna drained (I used 3 5 oz cans tuna packed in water)
  • 10.5 ounce cream of celery soup (I used Campbell's 10.5 oz can)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 talk celery chopped
  • 1 cup peas frozen
  • 1 cup cherry tomato halved
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper or to taste
  • ¾ cup potato chips crumbled

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400℉.
  2. Cook noodles: Cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and transfer to a large bowl.
  3. Mix all ingredients together: To the bowl add the remaining ingredients (excluding the potato chips) and stir until well combined. Season with salt and pepper as needed. I only added pepper, but feel free to season with salt as you prefer.
  4. Transfer to a casserole dish: Spray a 9x13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray and add the noodle mixture to the casserole dish. Sprinkle with the potato chips.
  5. Bake: Bake for 30 minutes or until heated through.
  6. Serve: Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • The casserole serves about 6 people, using three 5-ounce cans of tuna packed in water for drainage control.
  • For a richer flavor, prepare the homemade cream of celery soup as described; it adds a fresh taste and creamy texture.
  • Potato chips can be varied for topping to alter the crunch or flavor profile.
  • Season with salt and pepper according to personal preference, as the soup and chips already add saltiness.
