  • tortilla chips for the hair, purple variety
  • black olives for the face decoration to be the eyes & mouth
  • red pepper for the face decoration to be the nose, small

For the body:

  • orange bell pepper to be the ribs, sliced into thin strips
  • mushrooms or the pelvis bone, sliced
  • cherry tomato for the elbows and shoulders, halved
  • cauliflower as part of the feet, or broccoli florets
  • lettuce as part of the feet, leaves
  • red peppers as part of the vertebrae, small

Instructions

  1. Start by placing the veggie dip bowl at the top center of your platter for the skeleton's face.
  2. Arrange purple tortilla chips around the dip bowl to create a unique "hair" look.
  3. Line up small red peppers down from the dip bowl to resemble vertebrae along the spine.
  4. Create ribs by laying thin strips of orange or yellow pepper slices in a line down the platter.
  5. Arrange sliced mushrooms to form the pelvis bone.
  6. Make the veggie skeleton's face using olives for the eyes and mouth and a small red pepper slice for the nose.
  7. Now, build the skeleton's arms and legs using celery.Place halved cherry tomatoes in between celery sticks for elbows and shoulders.
  8. Finally, place lettuce leaves at the end of celery sticks to create the feet, and then fill them with cauliflower florets or broccoli.

Notes

  • Tips!
  • Pre-cut veggies and group them before assembling them for easy preparation.
  • Put the tray together closer to the party to keep the veggies fresh and crisp.
  • Choose a sturdy serving tray, baking sheet, or cutting board to arrange the vegetables. This will help keep the structure intact and make it easier to transport.
  • Don't be afraid to get creative! Have fun with the arrangement, and don't worry if it's not perfect. The whimsical and spooky nature of Halloween allows for playful imperfections.
  • If needed, use toothpicks or small skewers to secure some of the vegetable pieces together. This will prevent them from shifting during transportation.
