Easy Wedge Salad
Description
This salad uses whole iceberg lettuce cut into four wedges to keep the crisp texture intact. Each wedge is placed so the light, tender inside faces upward for presentation. Crispy cooked bacon is crumbled while fresh tomato and red onion are chopped into pieces to top the wedges.
A drizzle of blue cheese dressing over the wedges helps toppings adhere and adds creamy salty flavor. Blue cheese crumbles complete the topping to provide pungent sharpness contrasting the mild lettuce and sweet tomatoes.
The salad is served immediately, maintaining iceberg's crunch and freshness. It requires minimal preparation but delivers a range of textures and flavors—crisp, creamy, smoky, and tangy—that make it appealing as a light meal or accompaniment.
Ingredients
- 1 head iceberg lettuce
- 1 tomato
- ½ red onion
- 1 cup Bacon cooked crispy and crumbled
- 1 cup blue cheese crumbled
- ½ cup blue cheese dressing
Instructions
- Remove stem from the head of iceberg lettuce. Cut the lettuce head into four equal wedges. Lay each wedge on its "back" on the plate, so the light-colored center of the lettuce points up.
- Cook bacon until crispy, and crumble once cool enough to handle. Chop your tomato and red onion.
- Drizzle creamy blue cheese dressing on top of each lettuce wedge. (If you do this first it helps the toppings stick.)
- Top each wedge with tomato, red onion, crumbled bacon and blue cheese crumbles. Serve immediately.
