Easy Wendy's Chili Copycat Recipe

This Easy Wendy's Chili Copycat Recipe recreates the thick, hearty chili with browned ground beef, tomato sauce, kidney and pinto beans, chopped tomatoes, and a blend of vegetables including onions, jalapeño, celery, and green bell pepper. Cumin powder and chili powder add warming spices, simmered slowly for two hours to develop deep flavor and tender textures.

Description

The chili starts with browning 85/15 ground beef in a heavy stockpot and draining excess fat. A combination of canned tomato sauce, kidney beans, pinto beans, and chopped tomatoes provides the tomato and bean base. Fresh vegetables such as onions, jalapeño, celery, and green bell pepper contribute varied textures and mild heat.

Spices including cumin, chili powder, black pepper, and salt season the mixture, which is brought to a boil then simmered uncovered for two hours, allowing flavors to meld and the chili to thicken naturally. A finishing addition of butter enriches the sauce and adds a smoother mouthfeel.

This chili is suitable as a filling main dish, especially when topped with cheese, onions, or sour cream. It holds well as leftovers and is a practical recipe for a large batch cook. The slow simmer ensures soft beans and a cohesive taste across the ingredients.
