Easy white bread
Description
Easy white bread is made by activating instant yeast with warm water and sugar to create a foamy starter. Flour and salt are combined in a stand mixer bowl, and the yeast mixture gradually incorporates with kneading. Butter or oil is added for moisture and flavor, with additional flour mixed in until the dough is smooth, soft, and slightly sticky. After kneading, the dough rises for an hour until doubled in size.
The dough is rolled into a rectangle on a floured surface, then shaped into a loaf and placed seam-side down in a greased loaf pan. It undergoes a second rise for 30 minutes while the oven preheats to 350°F (180°C). The bread bakes for 30-45 minutes until golden. The result is a tender, versatile white bread with a crisp crust and soft interior, suitable for everyday use.
This recipe allows variation in the type of white flour used, including cake, all-purpose, or bread flour. The dough consistency can be adjusted with more flour as needed to reach the right texture. Final crust color and baking time may vary with oven differences.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups water warm
- 10 g (2tsp) instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar

Instructions
- Whisk water, sugar and yeast together. Allow to stand for 10 minutes until foamy.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment, combine the flour and salt.
- With the mixer running, add the water and allow to knead in.
- Add the butter or oil, allow to knead in then add more flour, one third cup at a time until the dough is smooth.
- Knead for another minuted until the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl.
- If the dough is still very sticky, add more flour and knead in.
- The dough should be smooth and soft and only a slight bit sticky.
- Cover with plastic or a damp tea towel and allow to rise for 1 hour.
- Once the dough has proofed, press it into rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Roll onto its self into a log, pinch the seam then transfer to a loaf pan that has been lightly greased.
- Covere again and allow to rise for 30 minutes while you preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F.
- Place in the oven and allow to bake for 30-45 minutes until golden brown and risen. Once baked the bread will sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove, brush with a little butter and allow to cool before slicing.
