Edamame Hummus Recipe
Description
Edamame hummus uses shelled edamame as the base instead of chickpeas, blended with tahini, lemon juice, and olive oil to create a creamy dip. Garlic and salt provide savory depth, while additional water helps reach a smooth, spreadable texture. The process involves pureeing all ingredients in a food processor until creamy, making it similar to traditional hummus but with a brighter, slightly nutty flavor from the edamame.
This hummus is versatile as a snack, appetizer, or accompaniment for vegetables and pita bread. It can also be garnished with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro to enhance color and texture.
Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups edamame thawed if frozen, shelled
- ¼ cup tahini
- ¼ cup lemon juice from 1 lemon
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt more, to taste
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 3-4 tablespoons water
- sesame seed optional toppings
- cilantro
- edamame
- olive oil
Instructions
- Add the edamame, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and garlic to your food processor and blend on high for 1 minute.
- Add the water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and continue to blend until the hummus is smooth and creamy.
- Transfer the edamame hummus to a serving bowl and garnish with any or all of the optional toppings.
