Elise’s Homemade Vanilla Granola
Description
This granola recipe starts with combining rolled oats, sliced almonds, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and raisins or Craisins as the dry base. A saucepan is used to boil canola or coconut oil with honey and vanilla to create a sweet binder. This mixture is poured over the dry ingredients and mixed until fully coated. The mixture is then baked at 300 degrees Fahrenheit on baking sheets for 20 to 30 minutes, stirred midway through baking to ensure even toasting.
The granola can be cooled slightly and packed away for a chewy texture or cooled fully to achieve a crunchy consistency. The final product offers a balance of sweet, nutty, and spicy cinnamon flavors with chewy fruits scattered throughout. It can be served as a standalone snack or topped on yogurt or paired with milk for breakfast.
The recipe allows for advance preparation and can be stored for up to 30 days in an airtight container. This flexibility enables batch cooking and convenient use. It is a straightforward granola that relies on vanilla for aroma and brown sugar for sweetness, creating a homemade cereal option without additives.
