  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup water ice cold

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all purpose flour and salt.
  2. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Mix in the egg and gradually add cold water until the dough begins to come together. Only add as much water as you need.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead until smooth. Shape into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before using.
