Espresso Steak Rub Recipe

Use on any cut of steak. Makes about 4 teaspoons, which is enough to season about 1 pound of steak.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
  • 1 teaspoon ancho chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon chipotle powder
  • ½ teaspoon thyme dried
  • ¼ teaspoon light brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix until well combined.
  2. If not using immediately, keep this spice rub in an airtight container in a cool, dark and dry place. It will keep for at least 6 months.

Notes

  • How to use the rub:
  • Dry steak well using paper towels.
  • Evenly sprinkle the dry rub onto the meat until coated on all sides.
  • Grill or sear in a cast iron pan on the stovetop and finish in the oven.
