Everything Bagel Pigs in a Blanket

Everything Bagel Pigs in a Blanket feature turkey hot dog halves wrapped in a soft, savory dough made from flour, baking powder, salt, and Greek yogurt. The dough is rolled into small ovals and wrapped around each hot dog piece, then brushed with egg wash and sprinkled with everything bagel seasoning before baking. The result is a tender, lightly golden pastry with a crisp seasoning crust, offering a flavorful twist on classic pigs in a blanket.

Description

Everything Bagel Pigs in a Blanket combine the simplicity of wrapping hot dogs with a unique dough made from flour, baking powder, salt, and Greek yogurt. This dough is kneaded minimally to become smooth and tacky but not sticky, then rolled into 4½-inch ovals to snugly envelop halved turkey hot dogs. Brushing with egg wash and sprinkling everything bagel seasoning on top adds a crunchy, savory finish after baking at 400°F for 25 minutes. The result is a golden-brown exterior with a soft crumb inside that contrasts well with the juicy hot dog.

The everything bagel seasoning—typically a mix including sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic, onion, and salt—adds complex savory notes that complement the mild turkey frank. This snack or appetizer is baked on parchment or a silicone mat to prevent sticking and allowed to cool briefly before serving, making it hand-held and easy to enjoy.

The dough’s use of Greek yogurt adds moisture and tenderness without requiring yeast or yeast rising time, which keeps preparation straightforward. These pigs in a blanket suit casual meals, lunchboxes, or snack times.

  7. Dust your work surface and a rolling pin with more flour.
  8. Press a ball flat then roll into a  4 ½-inch oval.
