Everything Bagel Seasoning

This homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning blend combines toasted white sesame seeds, dried garlic and onion, sea salt, poppy seeds, and black sesame seeds for a balanced mix of savory, nutty, and aromatic flavors. The toasting step enhances the fragrance of the garlic, onion, and sesame seeds, making it a versatile seasoning to sprinkle on bagels, breads, or other dishes.

Description

To make this Everything Bagel Seasoning, white sesame seeds, dried minced garlic, and dried minced onion are briefly toasted in a dry skillet to bring out their aroma and lightly brown them. After cooling, these toasted ingredients are combined with sea salt, poppy seeds, and black sesame seeds for an evenly textured mix with a variety of colors and flavors. The seasoning offers a mild crunch and a mixture of aromatic notes from the garlic and onion paired with nutty sesame seeds.

This blend can be stored in an airtight container in a dark, cool place to maintain freshness. If the seeds and dried aromatics are toasted before mixing, it’s recommended to use the seasoning within one month for optimal flavor; otherwise, it will keep for at least three months. It is commonly used as a topping on bagels, breads, savory crackers, and can also add interest to salads or vegetables.
