Everything Bagel Tofu

Everything Bagel Tofu features firm or super firm tofu coated in a seasoned batter and breading of everything bagel seasoning that includes sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion flakes, and garlic. The tofu is pressed, sliced, dipped in batter, coated with the crunchy bagel seasoning breadcrumb mixture, and baked until golden. This method creates a crispy exterior while keeping the tofu tender inside, suitable for dipping in vegan ranch, blue cheese dressing, or hot sauce.

Description

Everything Bagel Tofu prepares tofu in finger-shaped pieces coated with a batter made from flour, starch, soy sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and water. After pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture, the fingers are dipped in the batter, then coated in a breadcrumb and everything bagel seasoning blend that adds a textured, savory crust featuring sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic, and onion flavors. Baking at 400°F for about 35 minutes crisps the coating and colors the tofu surface.

The final tofu offers a flavorful crunch from the seasoned breading combined with a tender interior. The rich and aromatic bagel seasoning contrast nicely with neutral tofu, providing a distinctive taste and texture. It is meant to be served warm, paired with plant-based dressings or hot sauces to suit different preferences.

This recipe works as a snack, appetizer, or protein component of a meal. It is especially fitting for vegan or vegetarian diets that appreciate bold seasoning on a simple protein like tofu.

For gluten-free versions, use rice flour and gluten-free breadcrumbs or a mix of almond and oat flours as specified in the notes. The provided nutritional information applies to one serving.
