Everything Parmesan Crisps

Everything Parmesan Crisps are thin, crispy rounds of freshly grated Parmesan cheese topped with a seasoning blend of sesame seeds, onion and garlic flakes, and poppy seeds. Baked until golden, these crisps offer a crunchy, savory snack or garnish with the distinctive texture and flavor of 'everything' seasoning.

Description

This recipe prepares Parmesan crisps by spreading freshly grated Parmesan cheese into thin rounds on a silicone-lined baking sheet and lightly patting them to shape. After partial baking, a mixture of sesame seeds, dried minced onion, garlic flakes, and poppy seeds is sprinkled over each crisp. Baking resumes until the crisps turn golden and develop a firm, crunchy texture.

The cheese crisps deliver a rich, nutty flavor from the Parmesan, enhanced by the aromatic everything seasoning mix, providing hints of onion and garlic with a subtle crunch from the seeds. The resulting texture is crisp enough for snacking or garnishing salads and soups.

The crisps cool to firm up before handling, making them suitable for make-ahead preparations. Adjusting the seasoning quantities or doubling the recipe allows customization to taste and quantity needs.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese not pre-grated using the large holes of a box grater, freshly grated
  • 3/4 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 3/4 teaspoon  onion flakes minced dried
  • 3/4 teaspoon  garlic flakes minced dried
  • 3/4 teaspoon  poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F.
  2. Pour 2 tablespoon of grated cheese onto a silicone lined baking sheet (highly recommended for this) and lightly pat down with your fingers to make about 4 inches round.
  3. Repeat 3 more times with remaining cheese, leaving 1/2-inch space in between each circle.
  4. Bake 3 minutes, until almost done.
  5. Combine the sesame seeds, onion, garlic and poppy seeds in a small bowl.
  6. Top each with 3/4 teaspoon.
  7. Bake for 5 minutes or until golden and crisp. Cool before eating.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan from larger holes of a box grater, not pre-grated, for best melting and texture.
  • Double or triple the recipe to make more crisps for snacks or garnishes.
  • Use a silicone lined baking sheet to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Allow crisps to cool completely before removing to maintain their shape and crunch.
