Filipino Garlic Fried Rice

Garlic fried rice is one of the most common Filipino rice dishes. It combines leftover rice with crispy fried garlic, all tossed together with seasonings to create something simple yet incredibly flavorful!

Ingredients

  • 8 garlic peeled and minced, about ¼ cup, cloves
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cups rice cold, cooked
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt or more to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper or more to taste
  • 2 tablespoons green onion for garnish, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large wok or non-stick pan, add 3 tablespoons vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat. Add the minced 8 garlic cloves,.
  2. Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Add in 4 cups cooked rice, cooled. Stir the rice into the oil and garlic.
  4. Season with ½ teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper,. Cook for 2-3 minutes allowing the rice to get crispy. Stir the rice and continue to cook for about 5 minutes to achieve a fried rice texture.
  5. Garnish with 2 tablespoons sliced green onions, and serve warm.
