Fish Tikka
Description
This Fish Tikka recipe features cod pieces coated with a marinade of neutral cooking oil, lemon juice, a blend of warm spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powders, garlic paste, salt, and carom seeds. The spices provide layers of aroma and subtle heat balanced by lemon's brightness.
After marinating for at least 30 minutes, the fish chunks are skewered and roasted in a very hot oven for 8 to 10 minutes. This method crisps the exterior lightly while cooking the fish through rapidly, preserving moisture and flaky texture.
Fish Tikka is served immediately, traditionally accompanied by naan or other breads, allowing the spiced fish to stand out. The smoky roasting complements the turmeric and chili spices well, resulting in a dish with balanced heat and fragrant spices.
The recipe's exact spice blend and roasting time ensure the fish remains tender without being overcooked. Handling the fish dry before marination helps the spices adhere properly.
