Flaming Hot Cheetos Hot Dogs
Description
The recipe involves grilling hot dogs over medium-high heat until they develop char marks and a slight crispness without overcooking. The buns, preferably brioche and grilled if desired, provide a soft but sturdy base. Once assembled, the hot dog is drizzled with mayonnaise for creaminess, sprinkled with salty, crumbly cotija cheese, and topped with crushed Flaming Hot Cheetos adding heat and crunch.
Fresh chopped chives or cilantro add a bright herbal note that balances the rich and spicy toppings. This combination turns a simple grilled hot dog into a layered flavored treat with textural contrast from crispy Cheetos and smooth mayo.
Serving immediately preserves the crispness of the toppings and the juiciness of the hot dog. It is a casual snack or meal option that offers a spicy twist on a familiar comfort food.
Ingredients
- 6 hotdog
- 6 hot dog buns preferably grilled, brioche
- ⅓ cup mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons cotija cheese crumbled
- ⅓ cup flaming hot cheetos crushed
- 2 tablespoons chives or both, fresh chopped or cilantro
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to the highest heat setting. When ready to grill, turn the heat down to medium-high so the temperature is around 450 degrees F.
- Place your hot dogs (and buns if you wish!) on the grill. Grill, rotating the hot dogs often, until grill marks appear and they are somewhat slightly charred, about 5 to 6 minutes.
- Remove the hot dog and immediately place it in the bun. Drizzle the top with the mayo (as much or as little as you wish), then sprinkle with cotija cheese. Sprinkle with the crushed flaming hot cheetos. Sprinkle with the chives and/or cilantro.
- Serve immediately!
