Foil Pack Grilled Potatoes

Report
Foil Pack Grilled Potatoes use quartered red potatoes seasoned with garlic, butter, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, wrapped in foil and grilled until tender. The result is tender, flavorful potatoes with a slight smoky note from the grill. This method offers a convenient way to prepare seasoned potatoes without extra cleanup.

Description

Foil Pack Grilled Potatoes feature red potatoes cut into quarters, combined with minced garlic, butter, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Once sealed in foil packets, they cook over medium-high grill heat for about 30-40 minutes until soft. The direct grilling and foil trapping steam help the potatoes cook evenly while infusing them with the aromatic garlic and herb flavors.

The texture is tender throughout, with butter melting into the potatoes for richness and Italian seasoning adding a savory herbaceous note. This approach suits outdoor cooking settings well and eliminates the need for pans.

These foil packets are ideal as a side dish for grilled meats or as a straightforward, no-fuss potato option in any meal. The recipe notes that baking in an oven at 350°F for 50-60 minutes achieves a similar tenderness if grilling is not available.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 lb potato red
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash the red potatoes and quarter then.
  2. Evenly place the potatoes into 3 large pieces of aluminum foil large enough to fold over and to be able to roll up edges.
  3. Top evenly with the garlic, butter, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
  4. Fold each foil packet close and seal tightly.
  5. Grill over medium-high heat for 30-40 minutes until the potatoes are soft.
  6. Remove the heat, be careful when opening the foil packet and enjoy!

Notes

  • These foil packets can be baked in an oven at 350°F for 50-60 minutes instead of grilling.
  • Use large pieces of aluminum foil to securely seal the potatoes and prevent steam leakage.
  • Be cautious when opening foil packets after grilling as hot steam escapes.
