French Onion Soup Rice
Description
French Onion Soup Rice uses long-grain rice baked in a mixture of French onion soup and beef broth, which infuses the rice with savory, caramelized onion and meaty beef flavors. The butter sliced on top melts through the rice during baking, enhancing its richness and creating a smooth texture. Baking covered then uncovered allows the rice to absorb the liquid fully while developing a slight crust.
The combination replicates the essence of French onion soup adapted into a rice side dish. The dish is tender and flavorful with subtle sweetness from the onions and depth from the broth, making it a simple yet effective alternative way to enjoy those traditional flavors.
