French Toast

French Toast uses a batter of eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon to soak thick slices of bread before pan-frying until golden and cooked through. The result is a tender, lightly spiced breakfast classic that pairs nicely with maple syrup and powdered sugar.

Description

This French Toast recipe starts by whisking together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to create a custard-like soaking mixture. Thick-sliced bread, such as brioche, is dipped in the mixture to absorb the flavors evenly.

The soaked bread is then cooked on a buttered nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat, about two minutes per side, adjusting the heat as needed to achieve a golden crust without burning. Working in batches and re-buttering the pan ensures evenly cooked slices each time.

Served warm, the French Toast can be topped with traditional accompaniments like maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar, offering a lightly sweet, silky interior with a delicate cinnamon aroma and crispy edges.
