French Toast Sticks

French Toast Sticks are made by cutting thick slices of bread into sticks soaked in a custard mixture of eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. They are cooked in butter over medium-low heat, allowing the sticks to develop a golden, lightly crisp exterior with a soft, custardy interior. Served warm, they make a handheld breakfast treat commonly paired with syrup.

Description

Thick-cut bread slices are cut into sticks and dipped in a smooth custard blend composed of eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cooking over medium-low heat with butter allows the custard to set gently, producing French Toast sticks that are tender inside with lightly browned edges. The controlled heat helps avoid burning while ensuring thorough cooking.

The sticks are served warm and usually paired with syrup, making them easy to handle and a convenient variation of traditional French toast. This format appeals to those who prefer a grab-and-go breakfast or a finger food option.

The cooking time will vary based on the bread thickness and how much custard it absorbs, so monitoring doneness and adjusting heat as necessary ensures optimal texture and appearance.
